Shiny New Wordpress, and Miscelania

WordPress has updated to 2.7 beta2. Not only is it shiny and happy, it’s fun! :)
Favorite feature: reply-to comments. So now you can see the actual conversation compared to a list of comments.

Also, I do plan on writing something about the election – in fact, a lot. I just haven’t had a moment to sit down yet.

It’s bedtime. <3

A couple thoughts today:

1. It’s really hard to convince people to vote when you’re not feeling it as much as you want to. For instance, I have spent all day attempting to encourage some of the people I work (clients, not peers) with to vote. I love people advocating for themselves. I even held an inpromptu discussion over the Presidential candidates talking points -- just to get a discussion going. I turned out to be lackluster and boring. Maybe I can do better as we get closer to ending this election season.

2. Working from Noon to 8pm is pretty cool. I get lots of over-time, too. It tends to be stressful, as I have approximately eleventy supervisors. Oh, and I left my Nalgene at work. I’m sad. And dehydrated. I need to buy a new one anyway.

3. I found a horrible and shocking video on YouTube the other day. Not only do I disagree with the message, I’m not sure the children in this scary propaganda-esque hate video really even understand what they’re really saying. Read the comments on the YouTube page.

4. I believe, and like, the Filter For Good concept. In fact, I haven’t purchased a bottle of water (unless I’m without my Nalgene) since I took the pledge. I’ve also increased my water consumption and eliminated soda from my diet.

5. I like goats. Especially the Fainting kind. My family raises them, and has about 70. They’re like pets… awesome.

I’m So Over Politics

Can the election just get here already? I’ve already missed the deadline for absentee balloting, so I just have to deal with all the mud slinging. Here’s how I see it:

US President: John McCain/Sarah Palin vs. Barack Obama/Joe Biden

I honestly don’t like either of the candidates. At first I liked McCain, then I liked Obama, then I wanted to punch both in the face. Both have things I like (Obama with health care, McCain with foreign policy), but both have things I dislike (Obama with foreign policy, McCain with nasty attack ads and divisive speech). Don’t get me started on the VP candidates. I’ve never liked Biden. He’s a jerk- I appreciate compassion in a person, and I can’t believe he has any. Palin is… interesting. I like that she’s not the typical candidate, and she’s not “Washington” like every one else. I like her speaking style, and she can keep up very well, and isn’t afraid to admit to mistakes. But she has even less experience than Obama, which is scary.

I’m still unsure as to who I’m voting for, and frankly, the whole electoral system has just frustrated me and makes me not want to vote. I want my vote to count just as much as everyone else’s – I would approve going to a popular vote for the US Presidential race, not the indirect election using the Electoral College that we currently have.

United States Senator (Idaho): Jim Risch (R) vs. Larry LaRocco (D)

I’m skipping over the candidate known as Pro-Life (the name frustrates me as a total publicity stunt), who is running as an Independent, because I can’t find any information about what Pro-Life is running for. Also missing is Kent Marmon (Lib), who I just can’t identify with. Marmon also did not make the minimum qualifications for our local televised debate. Rex Rammell (I), has been far too argumentative, and only supports marriage between a male and female.

Jim Risch has served Idaho for a while. He has served as Lutenient Governor, and Interim Governor. I identify with his stance on the issues. He has been a positive person. He doesn’t constantly compare himself to others, and brings new ideas to the table.

Larry LaRocco identifies his current job as a lobbyist. While I also agree with many of his stances, I don’t, however, like how he acts. He always wants to point out how he is better than everyone else.

I do believe that I’m finished. I just want some closure. I can’t wait for the day that they decided what’s going to happen. It wont be November 5th. This one’s going to be contested for quite a while, I believe.

And that just sucks too.
